Art - History - Culture
There's something about island life that nurtures the creative side of us...
Magnetic Island is the kind of place where you find public art everywhere. Artists and crafts-people are drawn to the inspiring atmosphere and casual lifestyle. Frankly, being eccentric is the norm here.
Things change slowly, too, and that's a good thing, because we have a chance to preserve bits of history and celebrate cultural heritage before these are lost or forgotten.
We don't have some things here - although the city is just a short ferry ride away - but it means we do more to "make our own fun" here. There are a lot of clubs and interest groups and any escuse will do for a party!
Being isolated doesn't mean we are terribly deprived - it's more like we are reminded daily that there is nothing we'd really rather do than watch the sun set.
