From Australia - head 'overseas' to
Magnetic Island

First, find the city of Townsville, in North Queensland.

Qantas, Virgin Australia and Jetstar airlines fly to Townsville from major cities daily. From there it's a short ferry ride to the island. Greyhound bus will drop you right at the passenger ferry terminal.

Magnetic is a rocky island, 8km offshore. You can get here via a 20 minute passenger ferry ride or bring your own car; it is approximately 40 minutes crossing  on the vehicle ferry.

Some visitors arrive on yachts and other water-craft. For moorings or other information, Phone Lance or Brian on (07) 4758 2417  or mob. 0408 026 886
Visit the website for marina services here

Once on the island, there are car and motor scooter rentals available.  rentals page here

TAXIS are available at the ferry terminal. When you leave the Ferry Terminal and walk across the pedestrian crossing you will find the Yellow Cabs Magnetic Island taxi rank, this is your only 24hr personalised transport for Magnetic Island.

Book a taxi by phone on: 131924, or use the Yellow Cabs App or the iHail app.

Compliments, complaints, or questions - please email us here: feedback@supremegroup.com.au
Wheel chair accessible taxis are equipped to cater for up to two wheelchair passenger in one vehicle at a time.
Maxi taxis are available to transport groups of up to ten passengers at once for an additional fee which is calculated by the taxi meter.

SunBus runs regular bus services from the ferry terminal to the main townships on the island.

Magnetic Island has paved roads, but not many. (see map) They are basic and some of the bays are reached by 4WD or boat or walking track only.

Bicycling - pushbikes are popular on the island, but be aware that the roads between bays are narrow, some with no shoulder, and can be very steep. Sporting bike riders may enjoy the rides, but families with youngsters and less fit riders will want to restrict bike riding to  within the flat, paved streets of the townships. BMX riders may enjoy taking the unpaved track out to West Point. Please view the terrain map to get an idea of what to expect.
